Paper

Installation as the face of modern sculpture and the work of Andro Wekua

Mariam Mamaladze_2020

Abstract

Abstract taken from the full text of the paper (PDF, page 3).

The paper is using possible arguments in research and observation on how the installation is presented as a modern sculpture, following the examples of Andro Vekua and several Georgian artists continuing the narrative logically. It also provides a brief history of the formation and development stages of the installation medium, moving into a philosophical context, using various theoretical papers. Including an analytical text by art critic, media theorist, and philosopher Boris Grois about installation policy, which provides important information about the development and proper understanding of this medium in today's contemporary art world. The main finding of the work is presenting a modern kind of sculpture in a new visual medium.
